What kinds of products are sold on Lectronz?

You will find development boards, electronic modules, test equipment, kits, components, tools, accessories, and other specialist hardware.

Many products are designed and manufactured in small quantities by independent creators. Some are open-source, experimental, or intended to be integrated into larger projects.

Products sold on Lectronz are generally intended for technically skilled users and may require assembly, programming, testing, integration, or additional safety measures.

B. Buying on Lectronz

What payment methods do you accept?

Payments on Lectronz are processed securely by Stripe.

Depending on your country and the seller, available payment methods may include Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna, iDEAL, and other payment methods supported by Stripe.

Lectronz does not store your credit card details.

Does Lectronz accept PayPal?

Not currently. Payments are processed through Stripe.

What currency will I be charged in?

You can display prices in several currencies for convenience, but purchases on Lectronz are ultimately charged in euros (EUR).

Currency conversions displayed on the website are indicative and may differ slightly from the exchange rate used by your bank or payment provider.

Can I buy products from several sellers in one order?

You can buy from multiple sellers on Lectronz, but each seller requires a separate checkout.

Each seller is responsible for shipping their own products.

Who ships my order?

Products are stocked and shipped directly by the seller.

Shipping methods, prices, delivery times, and tracking availability therefore depend on the seller and destination.

Will I have to pay customs duties or import taxes?

Possibly.

For international orders, customs duties, import taxes, handling charges, or other fees may apply depending on the destination, origin of the goods, order value, and shipping method.

Lectronz provides tools that allow sellers to collect some taxes and duties in advance. Unless the order explicitly indicates that import charges have been prepaid, buyers should assume that additional charges may be collected during import.

For qualifying shipments from outside the EU, Lectronz can collect EU VAT through the IOSS scheme.

How come I was notified that a product was back in stock, but it was already sold out?

When a product is out of stock, you can join its waitlist.

As soon as inventory becomes available, everyone on the waitlist is notified. For particularly popular products, other buyers may purchase the available units before you reach the product page.

A stock notification therefore does not reserve a product.

I have a question about a product. Who should I contact?

Go to the product page and click Message Seller.

The seller is usually the best person to answer technical questions about their product.

Both businesses and individuals can sell on Lectronz, subject to applicable laws in their country.

Lectronz is particularly suited to independent hardware designers, small manufacturers, open-source hardware projects, and technically oriented makers.

How much does it cost to sell on Lectronz?

Creating a store and listing products is free.

Your first 5 orders are commission-free.

After that, Lectronz charges a 5% marketplace commission, calculated on the product price and shipping, excluding taxes.

Stripe also charges payment-processing fees, which depend on the seller's country and the payment method used.

How do sellers get paid?

Payments are handled through Stripe Connect.

After payment-processing fees and the Lectronz commission have been deducted, the remaining funds are paid directly to the seller through Stripe.

Payout schedules and availability depend on the seller's Stripe account.

Do I need a Stripe account?

What products can I sell?

Lectronz focuses on electronics, open-source hardware, development tools, kits, components, and related technical products.

Products must be owned or produced by the seller. Dropshipping is not permitted.

Each product is reviewed before publication.

Who is responsible for product compliance?

Sellers are responsible for determining which laws and regulations apply to their products and for complying with applicable requirements concerning areas such as safety, certification, conformity assessment, labelling, traceability, and export controls.

Many products sold on Lectronz are components, development boards, prototypes, kits, or small-batch electronic assemblies intended for technically skilled users.

Read our Terms and Conditions

Can I sell pre-orders?

Yes. Lectronz supports pre-order campaigns, allowing sellers to gauge demand or fund a production run before manufacturing inventory.

The applicable conditions and expected shipping schedule should be clearly explained to buyers.

D. Taxes, VAT and customs

How does Lectronz handle sales tax and VAT?

In most cases, the seller remains responsible for determining which taxes apply to their sales and for reporting and paying those taxes to the appropriate authorities.

Lectronz provides tools that allow sellers to configure tax rates according to the buyer's location.

There is an important exception for certain goods shipped from outside the EU to EU consumers: when Lectronz's IOSS scheme applies, Lectronz collects and reports the applicable EU VAT as the deemed supplier for VAT purposes.

Learn more about taxes

What is IOSS?

IOSS — the Import One-Stop Shop — is an EU VAT scheme designed to simplify imports of low-value goods sold to consumers in the European Union.

For qualifying orders with a merchandise value not exceeding €150, VAT can be collected during checkout instead of being collected from the customer when the parcel enters the EU.

For eligible orders on Lectronz:

  • Lectronz collects the applicable EU VAT at checkout.
  • The seller receives the information needed to ship the order using Lectronz's IOSS registration.
  • VAT is reported by Lectronz.
  • The customer avoids having import VAT collected again at delivery when the shipment is declared correctly.

Sellers outside the EU can enable or disable Lectronz's IOSS mechanism.

Important: IOSS concerns VAT. Customs duties and other import charges are separate.

What is the €3 EU customs duty on low-value imports?

Since 1 July 2026, goods imported into the EU in consignments not exceeding €150 can be subject to a temporary €3 customs duty per item category.

This customs duty is separate from VAT and from the IOSS system.

Where supported, Lectronz provides sellers with tools to account for applicable import duties when configuring shipments.

The exact amount can depend on the contents of the parcel and how the goods are classified for customs purposes.

Do sellers have to configure taxes themselves?

Usually, yes.

Lectronz provides the tools for calculating taxes, but sellers remain responsible for determining which tax rules apply to their business and products.

The main exception is VAT collected by Lectronz under its IOSS deemed-supplier mechanism.

E. Shipping and orders

Who is responsible for shipping?

Sellers are responsible for stocking and shipping their products.

They define the shipping destinations, rates, and shipping methods available for their store.

Can sellers provide tracking information?

Yes. Sellers can add a tracking number and tracking information to an order after shipment.

Buyers can then access this information from their order page.

What should I do if my order has not shipped?

First, contact the seller from the order page using Send a message to the seller.

If the seller does not respond within a reasonable time, contact support and we will help investigate the issue.

F. Getting support

I have a problem with an order

Go to the order page and click Send a message to the seller.

Because sellers stock and ship their own products, they are normally the best first point of contact.

If the seller does not respond within a few days, contact support and we will help you resolve the issue.
