RGB Touch Mini ships with firmware that includes different play modes, and a settings menu, and that source code is available on GitHub.
There is also an example multi-player Tic Tac Toe game on GitHub as well.
You can now also flash the available firmware directly to your RGB Touch Mini via the web using the RGB Touch Mini Firmware page.
I also plan to add some basic template projects to get you started with various features, if you would like to create your own projects. Stay tuned for that.
MicroPython and CircuitPython firmware will be available for RGB Touch Mini soon, and I hope to have some example projects available for both shortly after release.
Touch the centre of the display for 2 seconds in any play mode, and the menu will appear, showing you Left/Right arrows and a Green Plus (Accept) and a Red Cross (Cancel).
RGB Touch Mini will also speak the actions you select, as well as beep when a button is pressed.
Honestly, the RGB Touch Mini feature set allows for an amazing range of possibilities. Here are a few examples:
Though you can touch as many LEDs are you like, RGB Touch Mini is not a multi-touch device that can track multiple individual touches, or detect multi-touch gestures. Using 2 fingers (or more) at once will generate typical ghost touches.
RGB Touch Mini can detect single-finger swipes though.
RGB Touch comes assembled, but if you would like to add a battery, you can open the case by unscrewing the 4/5 screws on the bottom. There is an empty pocket for a battery to be inserted next to the speaker pocket.
Please be careful re-assembling the unit. Ensure the LED diffusers are aligned correctly, and don't over-tighten the screws when putting them back in or you could damage the touch PCB or break off the SMT nuts.
Sure you can, but to do so you'll need to either purchase the Large Battery Case (LBC) add-on or print your own (see the GitHub link below). The LBC attaches to the bottom of the standard case and allows you to fit a larger battery up to 90 x 80 x 8mm in size.
The LBC comes with 4x M2.5 x 10mm black metal screws and a 1.25mm to 2.0mm converter cable to allow a larger battery that has a 2.0mm pitch JST connector to plug into the 1.25mm PicoBlade connector on the RGB Touch Mini.
There is a notch on the LBC and the RGB Touch Mini case to allow the cable to feed through (pictured top left in the LBC image above)
Example battery options include:
2500mAH capacity with a size of 50 x 60 x 8mm https://www.adafruit.com/product/328
2000mAH capacity with a size of 38 x 60 x 8mm https://www.adafruit.com/product/2011
Checkout the RGB Touch GitHub repository for firmware source case models. More will be added over time.
All products purchased on this store ship directly from me here in Melbourne, Australia.
Orders are processed daily and usually go out the same day they are paid for - allowing for time zone differences of course.
Finally, postage rates suck, sorry :( I'm embarrassed by how much it costs to ship items overseas since COVID, and I do my best to improve rates where I can.
Postage delivery times, if stated, are based on current expectations from Australia Post and may vary.
Please keep in mind that there are still occasional postage delays, including flights out of Australia and inbound customs processing into many countries.
